~ Zihuatenejo Bay: Mexico ~ |
~ Mexican Riviera Cruises ~
One stop gives you the best of both worlds:
Zihuatanejo, a tranquil fishing village sleeping in the sun; and Ixtapa, an opulent resort just five miles away, yet appears
to be a whole world away!

Port Info Iztapa & Zihuate ~
Ships arriving in Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo drop anchor in Zihuatanejo
Bay, a pretty, sheltered harbor less than 3 mi/5 km wide {photo above]. Passengers
are taken in smaller craft to Zihuatanejo's municipal pier. From
there, you can walk right onto the malecon, the brick-paved walkway along the edge of downtown
that is lined with charming shops and restaurants.
The tourist office
is nearby in the city hall, next to the basketball court. Open Monday-Friday 8 am-4
pm. Phone 554-2355.
Consider signing up for the excursions offered by your
ship. They may not be the least expensive way to see the area, but you won't have to waste
time making arrangements yourself - and you won't have to worry about missing the ship. Shore
excursions - and their prices - vary from cruise line to cruise line. Some may include
lunch and drinks while others may not. (Fees for children range from half price to full price.)
Check with your ship's shore-excursion staff or your travel agent for additional information.
