"Chitales" ~ Dive Site ~
Cancun, Mexico:
Located very close to the beach, it´s also a shallow reef (12mts/35ft) good for both beginner
and experienced divers. A constant current runs from the south-east almost year-round making Chitales a good spot for
drift diving and the amazing visibility makes for great pictures as well.
"Manchones" ~ Dive Site ~ Cancun,
Mexico:
Just a few minutes from Isla Mujeres, it´s a shallow reef
(12mts/35ft) very good for both beginner and experienced divers as well, Manchones is perfect for dive-course
practices and training, the currents is very soft and the visibility as good as it gets. Photographers are attracted
to this area due to it´s great natural light and beauty.
"* Cuevones* " ~ Dive Site ~ Cancun, Mexico:
Once considered a prime dive spot, Cuevones suffered a crash
from the Leeward, a noruegian 67m cargo ship, on December 17, 1997 which practically destroyed 80% of the Cuevones Grandes
section of the reef ! {* México´s natural resources ministry
restricted the area -*diving is no longer possible!].
"Ultrafreeze Shipwreck" ~
Dive Site ~ Near Cancun:
A cargo ship called "El Frio" sank to a depth of 95 feet.
At this wreck dive you will see Barracudas, schools of Amber Jacks, Manta Rays, Turtles and Groupers. Although
it´s located a bit far from Isla Mujeres, it is worth the long ride.
"Sleeping Sharks Cave" ~ Dive Sites ~ Cancun:
A famous place in the world of diving. discovered by
Ramón Bravo in 1969, the phenomenon of the sleeping sharks amazed the cientific community due to the fact that sharks need
to swim to be able to breath. Here the currents and the presence of fresh water allows them to take a nap while divers
visit the cave undisturbed. Here you can find Bull Sharks, Lemon Sharks. schools of Amber Jacks, Manta Rays and Turtles.

"Hondureño Shipwreck" ~ Dive Site
~ Cancun:
Found at only 10 minutes by boat from Isla Mujeres, at a
depth of 70 feet, The Hondureño was a shrimp boat 40 meters long, that sank during Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. There
you will find Green Morey Eels 1.5 meters long, Nurse Sharks, Rainbow Parrot Fish, schools of Cobia fish, Groupers, Amberjacks
and Snappers.
"Piedras Atravesadas" ~ Dive Site
~ Cancun, Mexico:
At 30 minutes by boat, 60 -70 feet deep, you will find a
huge reef full of colorful coral and a great variety of fish like Jurel, Mantas, Jewfish, Scorpion Fish, Spiders, Octopus,
Starfish, Lobster and Parrot Fish.
"Navy Boat" ~ Dive Site ~ Cancun,
Mexico:
Located 25 minutes by boat at a depth of 70 feet / 25 meters,
with current. A very exciting dive is this navy boat. Almost all the dive is inside the wreck, where you
can explore it from the engines to the office, passing by the guns and, getting surprised by amberjacks and stingrays.
"Valle de Mantas"{ Manta Valley
) ~ Dive Site ~ Cancun:
as the name states, large rays are the owners of this area.
This is an advanced divers area only, relatively far from the rest of the dive spots, but well
worth the ride.
While Cancun has some places for
scuba diving and snorkeling, by far, the best sites are in Isla Mujeres (see Video below), Cozumel
Island, and around the Riviera Maya generally.
