Cruise ships enter Santa
Cruz Bay and anchor about a mile north of the marina. Passengers are tendered
to a dock in the town of Santa Cruz. From the dock, it's a short walk to restaurants, shops,
banks, the marina and the public beach. You'll need transport to reach the little town
of La Crucecita, which is about a mile north of Santa Cruz and has a larger selection of stores and restaurants. Bahia de Tangolunda, the deluxe hotel district, is about 3 mi/5 km east of the dock.
Tourist information
is available at the Asociacion de Hoteles de Huatulco, located on Boulevard Santa Cruz at the corner of Monte Alban. It's open Monday-Friday 9 am-5 pm, Saturday 9 am-1 pm. Phone 587-0848.
Consider
signing up for the excursions offered by your ship. They may not be the least
expensive way to see Huatulco, but you won't have to spend valuable time making arrangements yourself - and you won't have
to worry about missing the ship. Shore excursions and their prices vary from cruise line
to cruise line. Some may include lunch and drinks or additional stops, while others may
not. (Fees for children range from half price to full price.) Check
with your ship's shore-excursion staff or your travel agent for additional information.
Note:
If your time is limited and you want to take a tour of the bays, many companies offer trips shorter
than the ship-sponsored shore excursion. Prices vary depending on the number of bays visited
and the distance from Santa Cruz Bay.
