Minors ~ Traveling Mexico:
Anyone under the age of 18 is considered to be a minor.  Policies on minors travelling to Mexico are somewhat strict and carefully guarded:
  • Minors travelling alone or with someone other than a parent, must have a notorized consent form signed by both parents.  Airlines require the name, address and telephone number of the person meeting the unaccompanied minor in Mexico.
  • Minors travelling with one parent and the other is deceased or the minor has only one legal parent, a notorized form must be provided as proof.
  • Spirits ~ Traveling Mexico:
    Mexico offers a colorful array of Libations.  Many of the popular beers (cervezas) are Superior, Bohemia, Tecate, Dos Equis and Corona.  Tequila still remains the signature drink in Mexico!

    This area is host to warm tropical temperatures throughout the year.  In June through November, expect light rainfall and heightened humidity.  December through June, dry days and balmy evenings are the norm.

    ATM’s are widely available in most resort areas with English and Spanish menu options.  Some ATM machines will give either pesos or dollars.  The Casas de Cambio or exchange houses offer the best exchange rates with longer hours and professional service.

    U.S. dollars are widely accepted.  Change is usually given in the form of pesos.  Bringing plenty of traveller’s checks is advisable.  Some equipment rental establishments require cash deposits which are returned.

    ~ Attire While Visiting Mexico ~

    Casual dress is appropriate for the beach areas.  Swimsuits should be worn only in the beach areas and around the pool.  In larger and interior cities a more modest and conservative look is appropriate for day, while the evenings require a more formal appearance.

    A 24-hour, toll free phone number is available for tourists in Mexico.  Services include advice for lost travellers, contacting Embassies or Consulates in emergencies, information on legal matters, help for travellers who believe goods or services purchased in Mexico are fraudulent, assistance to crime victims, travel advisories, etc.

    Legal Requirements for Weddings:

    Requirements for weddings include  ~

    1. A passport copy or birth certificate with a valid photo I.D.
    2. Copy of the tourist card.  The blue certificate that passengers will receive upon their arrival in Mexico.
    3. Minimum length of stay in Mexico prior to ceremony: 3 days
    4. Birth certificates (should be 2 copies duly notorized)
    5. Blood test - should not be taken more than 15 days before the wedding date.
    6. If divorced or widowed - proof of divorce papers and/or death certificate.
    7. Health certificate - completed locally at a cost of $40 - $50 per person.
    8. Marriage form which is provided upon arrival. Information requested on form: names, addresses and nationalities of those to be married, parents and witnesses.
    9. Copy of witnesses tourist cards - 4 witnesses are needed.
